Triiodothyronine stimulates cystatin C production and glucose transport in bone cells

Background: Thyroid hormones increase both serum levels of cystatin C and renal glomerular filtration rate (reflected by lower serum creatinine); the latter is considered the main determinant of cystatin C levels.
